DALLAS -- Dallas businessman S. Finley Ewing III has been elected to a two-year term as Chairman of the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association (CBAA), the sponsoring agency of the SBC Cotton Bowl Classic. Ewing is completing his sixth year as an officer on the CBAA’s Executive Committee, and his 11th year overall as a member of the Board of Directors.
Ewing becomes the CBAA’s 33rd Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Fred McClure as the bowl's CEO. McClure will remain on the Executive Committee as the Immediate Past Chairman.
In his position on the Executive Committee, Ewing coordinates the CBAA's Transportation Committee, and is a member of the bowl’s Team Selection and Relationships Committee. His involvement with the CBAA began in 1992 as a Civic Director. He then moved into the role of Corporate Director in 1994 before his election as an officer three years later in 1997.
A 1980 graduate of TCU, he is the owner and president of the Ewing Automotive Group in Plano. This marks the 35th consecutive year that his company has supplied courtesy vehicles for use during SBC Cotton Bowl Week.
