TIGERS BRING A SMILE TO KIDS AT HOSPITAL

DALLAS Ð The No. 25 Louisiana State University Tigers took a time out from their preparation for the 67th SBC Cotton Bowl Classic and brought smiles to the children of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital this afternoon.
The Tigers along with Dr. Sam Nader, Administrative Assistant for the Tigers, came out to the hospital and distributed goodie bags filled with teddy bears donated by Bank of America and caps and t-shirts were given to players for the team to sign for the children.
Tony Herring, Chief of Staff of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, gave a big thanks to all of the players who came out and took part in the event and wished the team the best on New Year’s Day.
A commemorative picture drawn by patient Jonathan Nicholson was given to Dr. Nader on behalf of the team. After the presentation, the players went around and talked to all of the kids while enjoying refreshments that were donated by Dr Pepper.
“We appreciate an opportunity like this to come out here and take part in such a special event,” Dr. Nader said. “Our team has been a team like the children here today. They have gone through a lot of trials and challenges. This is a little dose of reality for our players when they come and do an event like this.”
Hospital visits are something the Tigers are very familiar with. “At home we do a lot of these visits, and it brightens up the kids’ day and it brightens up my day,” stated Defensive End Marcus Spears. “I love being around kids.”
The Tigers enjoyed their time at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. They were happy giving to the kids, to the community and helped put a big smile on their little faces.
